Distant and Close Reading Approaches to Specialised Language in the ARCHE Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda Corpus

Abstract

This paper reports on a collaboration between the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure (CLARIN) and the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS), exploring how language-based methods can support the interpretation of Cultural Heritage policy documents. The study focuses on documents drafted within the Alliance for Research on Cultural Heritage in Europe (ARCHE) project, forming the basis of the future Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Combining distant and close reading, the analysis investigates the specialised language of the corpus through Word Rain visualisations of salient lexical items and lexical clusters, complemented by concordance analysis of selected items in context.
